What is FACT 2026?

The Forensic Aptitude and Calibre Test (FACT) is a national-level examination conducted by the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Delhi Campus, under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), to identify and certify qualified forensic professionals for deployment at Forensic Science Laboratories (FSLs) across the country. FACT is one of India's most significant forensic recruitment-linked examinations.

The demand for certified forensic professionals has surged following the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 — India's new criminal procedure law effective 1 July 2024 — which mandates forensic investigations for offences punishable by 7 or more years under Section 176.

Two Levels of the Exam

FACT (Basic Level) — Post-graduate level exam testing fundamental forensic aptitude. Qualifies candidates for general forensic examination roles in FSLs.

FACT Plus (Advanced Level) — For candidates who have cleared UGC-NET, CSIR-GATE, or GPAT. Tests specialised forensic aptitude for complex casework and expert interpretation.

How to Submit a FACT 2026 Answer Key Challenge

Important: NFSU has made the challenge process exclusively online through a Google Form. No challenges by email, post, or in-person will be accepted. Make sure you have your registration details handy before filling the form.
  1. 1
Download & Review the Official Answer Key Visit the NFSU FACT official page at nfsu.ac.in/fact and download the provisional answer key for your respective stream. Compare it carefully with your attempt.
  2. 2
Note the Question(s) You Wish to Challenge Note the exact Question Number, the Answer given in the official key, and the Answer you believe is correct. Prepare your justification (reference textbook, research paper, or authoritative source).
  3. 3
Click the Official Challenge Form Use only the prescribed online portal. The official form link released by NFSU is:
  4. 4
Fill in the Required Details Enter your registration/application number, name, stream, question number(s) being challenged, your proposed answer, and the justification/reference. Be precise — vague challenges are unlikely to be entertained.
  5. 5
Submit Before the Deadline Ensure your challenge is submitted before 6:00 PM on 4 June 2026. No grace period or extensions have been announced. Do not wait until the last moment — server traffic may cause delays.

Key Rules You Must Know

Challenges received after 6:00 PM on 4 June 2026 will be summarily rejected — no exceptions. The deadline is strict and non-negotiable.
Only challenges submitted through the prescribed online portal (the Google Form link above) will be considered. Challenges via email, WhatsApp, post, or any other mode will NOT be entertained.
If your challenge is found correct, NFSU will revise the Final Answer Key. The revised key will be applied uniformly to all candidates' responses — benefiting everyone whose answer matches the corrected option.
Pro Tip: Back your challenge with a credible reference — a standard forensic science textbook (e.g., Saferstein, Criminalistics; Modi's Medical Jurisprudence; PC Forensics Handbook), a peer-reviewed journal, or official NICFS/NFSU study material. Unsupported challenges have a much lower probability of acceptance.

About FACT 2026 — Background & Context

FACT 2026 was conducted on 24 May 2026 simultaneously as FACT (Basic) and FACT Plus (Advanced). Both exams cover 120 questions carrying 1 mark each, with no negative marking — making every question valuable. The exam is designed to meet the growing demand for qualified forensic scientists at FSLs across Indian states, driven significantly by BNSS 2023 provisions.

Registration for FACT 2026 was open from 7 April to 10 May 2026. The answer key for Forensic Biological Sciences (and other streams) was released on 2 June 2026, opening a 48-hour challenge window.

This year's FACT is notable for expanding its subject streams compared to previous editions, reflecting growing specialisation demands in Indian forensic laboratories.
